TLCA High School is in partnership with institutes of higher education, affording our Juniors and Senior students the opportunity to enroll in dual credit classes. There are certain prerequisites which need to be met in order to qualify as a dual credit student. These prerequisites include high school course completions and test scores. Students are required to achieve a certain score on the Algebra I and English II End of Course assessments. If the prerequisite is not met through the End of Course assessments, students are required to take the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) and meet a certain score.
A student may be exempt from taking a TSI exam by achieving any of the exemptions below:
ACT composite score of 23 or higher with at least a 19 on the English and/or math sections
Combined SAT reading and math score of 1070 with a minimum of 500 on the reading test and/or math test
Minimum score of 4000 on the Algebra I EOC or 4000 on the English II EOC.
Dual credit classes include:
Math 2412 (Pre-calculus) (Instructed on TLCA campus)
A parent/student meeting is held every spring for incoming juniors and/or seniors who are interested in taking dual credit classes.
