As the Campus Liaison Officer, Mrs. Tonne supports military students and oversees military programming at the Middle School Campus. She serves as a dedicated point of contact to support these students and their families through every step of the school journey. She, with the support of campus counselors, bridge the gap between home and campus by assisting with enrollment, records transfer, and navigation of community resources, while ensuring all students are accurately identified and coded in the state system.

What is needed for Registration?
Before we can complete the registration process, we will need the following:

• Official Birth Certificate, or other official document that establishes student identity, such as passport or other legal document
• Social Security Card, if student has one
• Immunization Records
• Proof of Residence or Military Orders if registering early
• Parent/Guardian Photo ID
• Transcript for Grades 8-12, or Grade Report for Grades K-7
• Court Order, if any pertaining to student

As part of helping our families become familiar with TLCA San Angelo we provide several resources to make your transition as smooth as possible. As a "Leader in Me" school, our students facilitate a Purple Star Leadership team as part of our Student Lighthouse Team. Our JH students lead activities that specifically involve our military-connected students, creating instant inclusion in campus programs and events. We welcome your feedback and invite you to let us know how we can best serve your family.

What Can You Expect Upon Admission?:

• An introduction to the school environment through an in-person, guided tour of your child’s campus
• Welcome from our “Eagle Leaders” whose heart and goal is to support your student in getting to know TLCA San Angelo. They are also here to be with your student at lunch, help them find their classes and make them feel a part of our awesome campus.
• Being a part of a “Welcome Night” for our military families. We appreciate you and want you to know that you’ve found a family at TLCA.

With every PCS move, we understand that families face the challenge of navigating new state standards, grading systems, policies, and curriculum. To help ease this transition, we have provided some academic planning resources below. Our MFLC is here to support families by providing confidential, short-term counseling, education, and support services. MFLCs can assist with a range of issues, including stress related to deployments, family relationships, reintegration, and grief. They offer support to students, with a focus on helping families adjust to the unique challenges of military life.

What is the Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission?

The Compact deals with the challenges of military children and their frequent relocations. It allows for uniform treatment as military children transfer between school districts in member states. Since 2009, the state of Texas, has adopted the framework through legislation, TEC 162.

The Compact and associated TEC 162 calls for the development of State Councils in each member state. Each State Council may be tasked with development of policy concerning operations and procedures of the Compact within the state.

elementarEach April, America honors the courage and recognizes the sacrifice of over 1.7 million children in military families nationwide. The life of military children has always had its challenges, foremost among them being frequent relocations. Every time families move, children have to make new friends, get used to new schools, and find new clubs and teams to join. A lot of military children take these changes in stride and some even thrive on them, but it is hard - kids have to rebuild their world every time and find their place in it. Month of the Military Child provides a powerful opportunity to raise awareness and build support to help these children meet the unique challenges they face! It is an opportunity to recognize military children and youth for their heroism, character, courage, sacrifices and continued resilience.

In celebration, we invite ALL of our students to participate in the National Purple UP! Day. Students come to school in a Purple Shirt and Jeans as a way of showing support!

UIL Athletics & Military Family Eligibility

Athletics available for JH students:
Fall/Winter: Boys Football, Girls Volleyball, Cross Country (Boys/Girls), Basketball (boys/girls), Cheer
Spring: Track (Boys/Girls)

Texas Leadership is proud to support our military-connected students. Under UIL Section 442, children of active-duty service members who move due to a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) are often exempt from the standard one-year varsity residency requirement. By transferring at the "first opportunity" following a move, military students can establish immediate athletic eligibility. Our administration will assist you in completing the necessary Previous Athletic Participation Form (PAPF) to ensure a smooth transition into our sports programs.
