We are excited about the chance to count you among the thousands of families who call our school home. You are about to discover what many parents have already found out about us: Texas Leadership is a safe, educational, Leader-In-Me, fun place to be!

Our vision is to see students at all ages T-H-R-I-V-E.

Students in Kindergarten are discovering more about the world around them and diving into the fundamentals of Math, Reading, Science exploration and all that encompasses the neat world of Social Studies.

Kindergarten at Texas Leadership will set your child up for success as they go beyond the Kinder classroom and grow from First Grade all the way through High School Graduation.

Pearson myView Reading  |

Engages students by introducing thematic units that allow for the integration of social studies and science across the curriculum. While focusing on various themes, students explore concepts about themselves, their community, and their world. Students learn skills to maintain a healthy inter- and intra-personal lifestyle. Through the thematic units, students are encouraged to express themselves through various mediums, learn the joy of reading as they discover diverse works of literature, and develop sophistication in the use of oral and written language as they engage in meaningful discussion and authentic writing. The myView program integrates instruction in phonics, phonemic awareness, spelling, comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, listening, speaking, fluency and letter formation.

Really Great Reading (Phonics Program )  |

Provides educators with the tools and knowledge to teach all students (not just those who learn easily) to read. Really Great Reading makes assessment and grouping practical, efficient and accurate. Our approach to reading instruction is research-based, interactive, explicit, structured, and multisensory. In our lessons, students not only learn to read, but enjoy the intelligent learning process.

Go Math  |

A comprehensive mathematics program that builds on prior learning with an approach that provides deep, long-term mastery of the content and skills taught. The program emphasizes Essential Questions and Big Ideas with depth of understanding as the goal.

The Classroom Experience  |

  • Morning Meeting” Time: Children experience a sense of belonging, practice communication skills, and are introduced to new concepts and materials through strategies such as shared reading and writing, calendar math and group discussion.
  • Whole-Group Lessons: We know that some skills and concepts need to be taught to the whole group together, followed by the opportunity for independent practice while the teacher visits students at their tables.
  • Read-Aloud: Children learn about each component of literacy as they listen to and discuss high-interest texts related to units of study.
  • Learning Centers: Development is supported through hands-on exploration of important literacy and mathematics concepts while a teacher circulates to monitor and further learning.
  • Small Groups: Teachers provide lessons to small groups that reinforce essential skills, and reteach or enrich as necessary.
  • Snack and Lunch Time: Children practice self-care routines, help distribute materials and clean up, and enjoy time to socialize.
  • Outdoor Play: All areas of development are supported as children explore and play on the playground.
  • Kindergarten Electives/”Specials”  |  Library, Music, Art, Physical Education (P.E), and Library.

MEET MRS. CROPPER  | Hello Future Scholars!! My name is Elizabeth Cropper and I have been teaching Kindergarten for 13 YEARS!! It seems like just yesterday that I started teaching. They say time flies when you're having fun!

Fun is exactly what we have in my classroom. We learn a lot through whole-group teaching, as well as a lot of group work. We love to Synergize in our classroom. Seeing these sweet babies learn and seeing those light bulbs in their brains turn on powers my drive to teach. Being a teacher is a true passion of mine.

A little bit about Mrs. Cropper: I have been married to my best friend Robert for 16 years. We have 3 amazing boys, Jayce, Jayden and Jaymson. My family is my other passion. They keep me grounded and support me and my crazy drive to always grow in being a better teacher.

I look forward to meeting you and enjoying an amazing fun-filled first year of school!

MEET MRS. HOBSON  |  Hello soon-to-be Kindergarteners! My name is Savannah Hobson. I graduated from Angelo State University in 2018, and I am 24 years old. This will be my third year teaching Kindergarten. The classroom is my favorite place to be! I aim to create an environment where students feel empowered, loved, and motivated to perform their best. I enjoy building relationships with my students as a foundation for their academic success. The amount of growth you and I will both see in your Kindergartener is so exciting! In my classroom, we learn to be proactive in our daily activities and the way that we treat our classmates because we operate as a TEAM: everyone has a purpose!

In addition to teaching, I also enjoy spending time with my amazing husband Christopher, we are high school sweethearts and newly married! We love spending time with our four legged friend Rusty, going on trips, and going to the movies.

Fun fact about me: I graduated from TLCA in 2014 and have loved coming back to teach! I can't wait to be a part of your first school year EVER!

MEET MS. MILBOURN  Hello! My name is Stephanie Milbourn, and I am a kindergarten teacher at Texas Leadership (TLCA). I have taught third and first grades as well, but I enjoy teaching kindergarten the most because it is such a special time in a child’s life. I love helping children make their first connections and discoveries that set them up for a lifetime of schooling success. I use age-appropriate, hands-on methods in all subjects that promote learning while capturing children’s interest. I rely on Habit #6, Synergize, when building relationships with my students’ families, and I pride myself on the rapport that I have with them.

I have two children and my family and I enjoy dancing, bike rides, and playing outside. We love to travel, and I hope to expose my children to as many different cultures and experiences as I can so they can appreciate the diversity and beauty of our world.

Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions about Texas Leadership as you explore what we have to offer for your kindergartner!
