This morning, a water leak was discovered in the construction area of our 3301 TLC Way campus. Out of much caution and the desire to ensure everyone's safety, entry to the building was temporarily restricted until the fire department could inspect the situation and provide clearance.

Following their inspection, the fire department has confirmed it is safe to re-enter the building. The water leak was confined to the construction area and has since been contained.

All classes and activities will continue as scheduled. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

IMPORTANCE OF UP TO DATE CONTACT INFORMATION

Teachers and administration communicate to parents and guardians about activities and alerts through email and text. If you believe that you have not been receiving these forms of communication, please check with your campus to ensure that your email address and or cell phone numbers are up to date.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone goes home safe!

Student and staff safety is a priority at Texas Leadership. Because a student's well-being is a pre-requisite before education can begin, we have worked with local law enforcement and other agencies to walk our campuses and ensure safety at every turn.

During an active event, we will communicate the most accurate information as quickly as possible without compromising the safety of those directly involved. This page will be updated with short, factual statements while an event is in progress.

Texas Leadership uses Standard Response Protocol (SRP) developed by the I Love U Guys Foundation as a resource to let parents, teachers, students and staff quickly understand what’s going on and how to respond.

The SRP is based on the following actions: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter. By ensuring our language is aligned with local law enforcement and other agencies, we can better respond to emergency situations.

about a HOLD

HOLD is used when hallways or specific campus areas need to be kept clear for a specific reason. During a HOLD, students and staff remain in their classroom or area. This is the safest thing for them.

Students

During a Hold, students are trained to do the following:

Clear the hallways and remain in their area or room until the “All Clear” is announced
Continue to conduct business as usual

Staff

During a Hold, adults and staff are trained to do the following:

Close and lock the doors
Account for students and adults
Continue to conduct business as usual

Parents/Guardians: during a Hold, we ask that you do the following:

Please remain outside or away from the building
Please remain calm
School or district officials will notify you of the event information

about a SECURE

SECURE is called when there is a threat or hazard outside of the school building. Whether it's due to violence or criminal activity in the immediate neighborhood, or a dangerous animal in the playground, calling a SECURE uses the security of the physical facility to act as protection.

Students

During a Secure, students are trained to do the following:

Clear the hallways and remain in their area or room until the “All Clear” is announced
Continue to conduct business as usual

Staff

During a Secure, adults and staff are trained to do the following:

Close and lock the doors
Account for students and adults
Continue to conduct business as usual

Parents/Guardians

During a Secure, we ask parents/guardians to do the following:

Please remain outside or away from the building
Please remain calm
School or district officials will notify you of the event information

about a LOCKDOWN

LOCKDOWN is called when there is a threat or hazard inside the school building.

It could also be at the request of a government agency (i.e. - police department, sheriff's department, etc.) for a threat outside of the school building.

From parental custody disputes, to intruders to an active shooter, LOCKDOWN uses classroom and school security actions to protect students and staff from threat.

Students

During a Lockdown, students are trained to do the following:

Move away from sight
Maintain silence
Do not open the door
Limit cell phone use, as communication may not be safe

Staff

During a Lockdown, adults and staff are trained to do the following:

Recover students from hallway if possible
Lock the classroom door
Turn out the lights
Move away from sight
Maintain silence
Do not open the door
Barricade the door if possible
Prepare to evade or defend

Parents/Guardians

During a Lockdown, we ask parents/guardians to do the following:

Please remain outside or away from the building
Please remain calm
School or district officials will notify you of the event information
Limit cell phone use, as communication with those in the building may not be safe

about an EVACUATE

EVACUATE is called when there is an urgent need to move students from one location to another.

Students

During an Evacuate, students are trained to do the following:

Leave stuff behind if required to
If possible, bring their phone
Follow instructions
Remain with your class/group

Staff

During an Evacuate, adults and staff are trained to do the following:

Bring Red Folders
Lead students to Evacuation location
Account for students and adults
Report injuries or problems using Red Card/Green Card method

Parents/Guardians

During an Evacuate, we ask parents/guardians to do the following:

Please remain outside or away from the building
Please remain calm
School or district officials will notify you of the event information

If the campus is no longer a viable option to hold students and staff, the district will provide information about the evacuation site:

Report to Reunification Site if needed
Fill out Reunification Card if needed
Follow the directions from the Reunification Staff at the evacuation site

about a SHELTER IN PLACE

SHELTER is called when specific protective actions are needed based on a threat or hazard. Training includes response to threats such as tornado, earthquake, or hazmat.
